Little vampire

This is the sucking fella (leech) that encoutered during my mountain bike ride on last 30 oct 2005. This bloodsucking is quite a nightmare for jungle trekkers. There are good things about it too! Formerly it is used by physicians to bleed patients and is now sometimes used as a temporary aid to circulation during surgical reattachment of a body part. So it is kind of love & hate things.

Before this little fella was captured, It was sizzling on Sunday morning. I had a mountain bike ride with 3 buddies. Venue is in one of the famous 4WD site in Semenyih. A remote area near Semenyih's waterfall. Approximately 50m from the waterfall car-park.

The trail entrance is from an abandon fishing bond. The surrounding is quite scary as it is so quiet. Definately not recommended for visitors in 3 or less. Ladies have to be extra careful. Besides, the trail seems to be left alone for long time, long grasses, messy trail to describe it. It is even worst when we went into the deeper site of it.

This is an in & out trail. The ending of the trail will be a river stream. Great place to take a short break before heading back. Overall, the ride took about 3hours. The riding is not really enjoyable as most of the time we were block by overhead grasses and tree branches. I had cuts around body, pitty my sexy legs.

The Marching of Dark Army

The dimming of brave heart.

The Dark Army is swallowing the bright from us!!! These pictures were capture on last Saturday afternoon. At that time, I was watching Lord of the Ring III - Return of the King. That's why I use the Dark Army of Sauron to describe the clouds.

The next chapter, I should capture the "Riders of Rohan" where the dark forces to be defeated by the Brave! Haha.. watching too much of movie.

Journey to the Top.

(view from the Hill View's window)
This is the trip that organised by few of the P2K members.  A cycling club which is not strange among cyclists in Klang valley.  On the 8th of OCT 2005, A breeze morning that welcoming all the riders.  Most of the riders are from Klang Valley except odds of them are from Ipoh that gonna lead us to the way towards Cameron Highland.

The ride started at 0945.  Everybody is so excited about this ride as none of the rider has ride up to Cameron thru Simpang Pulai's way.  We kicked-off from the Hotel.  It is a heavy traffic road before the Cameron Highland's signboard is in-sight which located 3km away from the hotel.  For the first 5km, it was a fairly flat road.  It was "quite" enjoyable ride till then.  As the mileage increased, the gradient of the road has increased as well.  That's the point we started to climb all the way up to Cameron Highland.

Along the way, there are stalls selling fruits like Durians, mangoosteen & etc.  All these stalls are run by Orang Asli.  They were so friendly & gave us warm welcome too.  It is quite encouraging when you are pedaling hard uphill.  With their "Kind" support, we stopped by for the "King of Fruits".  You know what, it only cost RM1 for that!!!   Just an unbelievable trade.  Besides that, high level bridges, steep hill, deep forest all these are the scenery around us along the journey.  The cloudy sky also gave us a bonus to enjoy more with it

In the first hour ride, most of the riders are sticking together riding in a pack.  Only 2 riders from Ipoh have been missing from the pack. (probably u-turn back..hehe)  Out of sudden, "Time to PEE!!!", shouted someone from behind.  Without any hesitation, all of us just stopped and release some "burden" together at the road side.  Wow..  what a special scenery that 18 people lining up and watering the green.

After a countless pedalling, we have been separated into 2 groups.  I was sticking with the 2nd group, where first group was riding at fast pace.  Some of the fast riders can even seen far above the mountain side!

We stopped at Kg Raja small town after a short down hill.  We refill our water bottles & also replenish stomach with some light snacks before heading up to Equatorial Hotel.  Another killing hills before the end of the journey.  As we start climbing, rain started to fall as well.  The feeling was quite bad though as it is  so cold & wet.  Chilling wind has become the tour guide that accompany us all the way till Equatorial Hotel.  I can feel my teethes are fighting inside my mouth.   This climb can be categorized as the most struggling stage of the journey.  The average speed for this grueling part is about 8-9km/h where hungry, cold, wet, & wind are all in one.

Right after the Equotorial Hotel check point, the long waited downhill is ahead of us.   This downhill leads us all the way to the finishing point, Wuthelam Villa.  A nicely renovated bungalow that belongs to one of the rider's employer.  Here, this is the MOST rewarding moment and that we are looking for in this journey, satisfaction of conquering Cameron Highland.

In short, the entire journey took about 4.5 hours  (excluding some stops for refilling) to cover the 80km, 95% uphill & 5% downhill, NO FLAT/Free wheel.  According to few of the riders with heart rate monitors, in average riders have burned approximately 4000-4500 calories.  So riders can enjoy much of their favorite foods without concern about their diet.  This also one of the enjoyments of this ride

Lastly, I just wanna express that this journey really meant a lot to me.  It could be the once in a lifetime activity within all of us.  But the feeling of satisfaction may not able to fully express here.  "Live to ride".

Road vs Off Road

CSK Road Bike - Team Pharmacia

(Image's EXIF info will be posted later)
Bought this road bike in April 2005. My first impressions of this bike are stiff, responsive & the geometries of the bike are just nice to my body size. CSK is not really famous in Malaysia. Only number of cyclists are using it. Some cyclists even has a nick name for this bike, Char Siew Kai (stewed pork & chicken).

It's frame made of alluminium, the tubing are from the Dedacciai, the famous Italian's bicycle tubing manufacturer. Branded bike manufacturer like Colnago is also sourcing from them. Bike frame design & material are from Italy too. The assembly & paint works are by the Taiwan's CSK. So it is a mixed of Italian & Taiwanese bike.

CSK's set-up:
Bike's Component : FULL Shimano Ultegra Group Set
Wheelset : Mavic CP-22
Tyres : Michelin Pro-Racer
Water cage : XXX Brand of carbon water cages
Seat post : Aero-shaped Carbon
Saddle : Selle Italia's leather saddle
Cost : Classified - email for info

Specialized Mountain Bike - HardRock Pro

(Image's EXIF info will be posted later)
It was a customed build bike. Got the Specialized frame from friend. Some of the components are new some are used. The entire setup cost is well within my budget RM$2000 ;)
It is a freeride bike frame. But most of the time i using it as cross country. I had setup a bar-end on the straight handle bar. So it is good to use the bar end while peddaling uphill. Straight bar is good for handling while the trail is a tricky one. Of course it is not as good as a downhill bar when comes to downhill section. Besides, it has a RockShox Judy suspension fork. Though it is not a high performance fork. But it did gives you the 80mm of travel.

Overall I'm quite satisfy with the bike's performance. With this little budget & these performances, can't really complaint much.

HardRock Pro's set-up:
Component : Mixture of Shimano LX 2005
Disc Hub : Shimano LX
Disc Brack System : Hayes disc brake (Cable)
Tyres : Taiwan brand - off road
Handlebar & Bar end : Ritchey
Cost : RM$2500.00

Output from the Casio's Night Scene

Tested with few of the functions last night. First impression of using the Casio Exilim EX-750 is pretty simple, just twist the function dial to "Best Shot" icon. Choose the "Night Scene" function and you are set to shoot the night scene.

(This image's file size has been reduced. Hope it doesn't affect the quality)
With this function on, the shutter will opened for 4 seconds before it is closed. A tripod is recommended as slight shakes from hand will causing the image blurred. Check out the image I took from my house's balcony.

** this camera is a Exif Print (Exif 2.2) Compatible one. But I am yet to know how to display such info.. :-s
