
Malaysia has the most significant tropical jungle. A place where we Malaysian should proud of. If you haven't been any spot of these jungle/forest, you should take the geographical advantage to visit them. Tourists have travelled thousand of miles from all over the world, pay thousand of dollars for the transportation fee to here to challenge the mountains or to adventure in these jungle. So, i don't find any reason why we should skip these wonderful places. Of course, to do these, it does demand some minimum physical strength. What's more, a fit person does look great & confident!
Over the pass few months, there have been some cases about missing during jungle trekking or mountain climbing or even a walk in the forest. Fortunately most of the missing challengers are able to be rescued. It does happened that there are victims in these tragedy too.
To avoid yourself contributed in the statistic of such missing case, personal survival skills is an essential for your own safety. Knowledge of surviving in these extreme environment can be found on the net. I was boy scout during my secondary school. I learned these skills during the troop camping. Skills range from commando training(physical), backswoodman cooking (no modern cooking utensils), navigation skills, and the most important thing, the mental preparation for it. I would like to highlight some of them here. hope it could helps.

- You may pick up the dried tree branches for fire lighthing in the night. It provide you warm and also create the "camp-fire" environment for the chat session. Please be advised that fire MUST BE put off when nobody is in guard. This is to avoid forest fire.
- Learn yourself the knowledge of knowing poisonous plants & animals. Normally those poison stuffs are colourful. You may use trap to capture small animals or fishes.
- Try obtaining drinking water. Water flows from higher ground to lower one. The source of the water will be the cleanest one.
- Using the leaves, branches, bamboo to build temporary shelter from the rain.
- Reduce activities in the dark to avoid being a target of fearless creatures.
- Leave survival signs on the groud by grouping leaves, puzzling the stones, marking on the tree's trunk, using the sticks to form an arrow that shoing the direction you are heading and any other method that will attract attention to others.
