The ride started a bit late as PE & TR were late. Be punctual will be emphasized in next trip😎
The aim for this weekend is clear cut, which to roll towards Melaka, when the meter hits 60km, u-turn. Total distance should be 120km.
This weekend is quite a small turn up. Despite the last minute No-Show by the 2 committed riders (namely MG & TJ), we still 6 of us turn up. Big applause to the attendees.
From the start, all went smoothly. The train started to broke into 2 pieces when approaching Teluk Kemang. AB was detached from the train when he stopped by to adjust his seat post. Then he was stayed with PE & TE.
67, LG & myself cruise towards our target point. This small group felt great when we pass the Red Double Decker near Pasir Panjang town. It indicates the 50km mark which we have achieved 2 weeks ago. However, the road becoming tougher as we encountered lots of rolling hills after that.
The 60km point is just right in front of a dragon fruit farm. We stopped by for a short photo session, also some intake of energy gels/bars.
While the u-turn is a discussing topic (it was hot that time), we saw a MUCH SHORTER alternative way which complete the ride as a LOOP. Base on the Google Map, it shows we will pass by Siliao - Rantau - Mambau. Due to the tire condition, we decided to abandon out "60km U-turn plan" by take the shorter route to form a loop.
Things were very wrong, there were several rolling hills. Due to unfamiliar in this route, we burn out energy fast by speeding up the hills.
By KM75, LG already left far behind from the group. Myself, at KM80, I feel that my energy is already at the low side. Trying to maintain at a cruising speed is a challenge. I decided to slow down the speed to conserve energy so that I can last to finish the ride. It was kind like a never ending route as you have no idea how long to go, how many hills ahead.
KM85, Mr 67 caught me. He took effort by pulling in front. That's really save lots of time & effort by cruising much faster now. I'm impressed by his "Diesel engine" where the real power kicks in at the finishing part.
KM90, finally we saw the sign board of "Mambau"! That's marks the end of the ride. The starting/ending point just 200m away from the signage!
As we approaching to the end, we saw AB, PE & TE were there! These boys clocked the 70km distance. They u-turn at Teluk Kemang where AB u-turn at Blue Lagoon. Still a good attempt to clocked this distances.
"A small increment of distance, a huge improvement in fitness!"
This weekend ride reminds me the importance of hydration & planning of nutrition. I was kind of exhausted after the ride. Should have treat this a serious game on Sunday BFF ride!
LG busy putting pressure on his tubeless wheel.
