The Hash Challenge 2004

02, Oct 2004 - The challenge started at 730am. There are 32 teams consist of 4 members a team. 1 of the teammate must be opposite sex with others. There will be 6 Check Points (CP) in the entire journey. Racers are allowed to replenish their water & foods at these check points. The team must stayed together in order to sign out at every CP. Those without the full team members will be considered as disqualify.

I was replacement team member for my friend Foo. The race was a grueling one as the total distance is 42 KM in off road trail and countless river crossing. Just imagine that you are running with a pair of shoe that is full of sands and tiny stones and also with a pair of wet sock!

The 1st and the 2nd CP are the toughest one among the rest. We took nearly 6 hours to finish these 2 CP. Unfortunately, 1 of our teammate gave up at the CP 2 as he was suffered leg injuries. Officially, our team disqualified at CP 2. Anyhow with the rest of the members, we continue the challenge without the full team condition.

For the rest of other CPs, it is totally depends on 60% of mentally torture and 40% of fitness. After 6-7 hours of non-stop hiking, river crossing, hill climbing, slippery trekking and sands in your shoe. I’m really mentally tired. I was so frustrated and just wanna quit and get back home. I feel was lucky that day as I’m able to share beers with my teammates stand at the finishing line! I DID IT!!!, the <<2004 Hash Challenge>>.
